New Horizons with Erasmus+: Internships for K�� Staff in Italy

The University of L’Aquila, Italy (https://www.univaq.it/en/) has opened an opportunity for �� staff (researchers, faculty, and administrators) to participate in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA171) program under the Staff Mobility for Training format.
A preliminary list of interested candidates is being compiled (for further internal selection and nomination)
Priority areas (preference during selection):
· Ukrainian Studies (within the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies);
· RealMaths program (management of the dual-degree program – Consortium Mathematics for Real World Applications);
· Cyber Security (development of new collaborations, participation in Staff Week and/or an intensive program on an interdisciplinary approach to cybersecurity);
· Modeling & HPC (development of collaboration, participation in Staff Week and/or an intensive program on mathematical modeling and HPC simulations)
We ask those who are preliminarily interested (or wish to join) to submit a package of documents to the International Relations Office (international_dept@nure.ua) by January 21, 2026

Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics is open to new collaborations with educational institutions. Through dialogue, the development of partnerships, and active cooperation based on culture, tolerance, innovation, and academic integrity.
Cooperation and areas of activity were discussed at a meeting between Igor Ruban, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, and Serhiy Dyachkov, Director of the Kharkiv City Council University Lyceum.
They discussed the system of continuous education for gifted students, strengthening its practical focus, the importance of supporting young scientists in their educational and research activities, as well as improving the quality of professional training for specialists.
The heads of the educational institutions signed a memorandum of cooperation and outlined the first steps of collaboration, with the future possibility for high school students to participate in lectures, practical classes, laboratory sessions, and educational excursions at ��

From Kharkiv to Las Vegas: A �� Student at CES 2026!

Maria Tokhtamysh, a third-year student in the Department of Software Engineering at ��, is representing Ukraine at CES 2026—one of the world’s largest technology exhibitions, currently taking place in the U.S.
The company organized a student trip to the exhibition to support a new generation of inventors and the development of engineering education in Ukraine.
Maria is learning from global tech leaders, building bridges between Kharkiv and Silicon Valley, and shaping the future of innovation with the support of Ajax Next.
“A special moment was the opportunity to ask a question to Gary Shapiro—President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and Executive Producer of CES—during the opening of the Ukrainian booth.
I asked about his own experience: how to make the most of the opportunities offered by conferences like CES, where Las Vegas literally transforms 180 degrees, and received valuable advice for those interested in launching their own startups. In particular, I learned that a 20-second pitch is exactly the tool each of us should have.
As a student at Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, I also had the honor of discussing a potential partnership between Kharkiv and Silicon Valley with the incredible Art Cohen, who works on establishing international ties, and we talked about building real bridges between startups and education in our regions,” Maria shares her impressions of participating in the exhibition.

�� Opens a Safe Learning Space for Students

Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics has opened a safe learning space. This modern facility allows students to study in person even during air raid alerts, attend lectures and practical classes, and work on projects without interruption. The initiative was implemented through a collaboration between �� and the IT4Life charitable foundation, in partnership with EPAM Ukraine and under the leadership of the Kharkiv IT Cluster.
Safe learning is an investment in the region’s future professionals. In this context, safe learning spaces preserve Kharkiv’s educational potential, encourage young people to stay in the city, and provide the conditions for training new specialists
As a continuation of this important collaboration, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics signed a memorandum of cooperation with EPAM Ukraine. This expands the range of opportunities to enhance the training of young and promising professionals in the field of information technology, enables participation in EPAM Campus educational initiatives, and facilitates joint educational events

The prospects for further cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Igor Ruban, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, and Olena Vediayeva, Head of the Education Department of the Kyiv District Administration of the Kharkiv City Council. A memorandum of cooperation between the institutions was signed with the aim of providing academic support to schoolchildren, supporting gifted youth, and providing professional training for teachers.

�� won SEERC 2025—the most prestigious international competitive programming contest

The prestigious international SEERC (South Eastern Europe Regional Contest)—the South Eastern Europe Regional Championship in competitive programming—took place on December 12–14, 2025. SEERC serves as the semifinal for the ICPC World Championship and is among the most prestigious international programming competitions. The main competition day took place on December 14, 2025.
The competition featured 106 teams from 66 universities across 13 European countries, underscoring the high level of competition and the significance of the tournament.
According to the results of SEERC 2025, the Ukrainian team from Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (��) took first place in the overall standings, confidently outperforming strong teams from leading European universities.
The winning team from �� was represented by students from the Department of Software Engineering:

Konstantin Denisov
Valerii Grinenko
The team was trained under the guidance of the Associate Professor of the Department of Software Engineering, O.V. Vechur.
SEERC brings together the strongest student teams in the region, who solve complex algorithmic problems within a limited time, demonstrating a high level of professional training, logical thinking, and teamwork.
Based on the competition results, the �� team advanced to the European finals, which will take place in early February in Warsaw, and also became the only Ukrainian team to earn the right to represent Ukraine in the finals of the ICPC World Championship.
This result is a significant achievement for �� and the entire Ukrainian IT education sector, confirming the competitiveness of Ukrainian students on the global stage.

The British agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published its ranking of the world’s best universities by subject area the .

In Computer Science & Information Systems, there is a positive trend: the number of Ukrainian higher education institutions that have cleared the threshold has risen to six. �� has confirmed its high standard, entering the 651–700 range.

Rankings of Ukrainian universities:

I. Sikorsky KPI – 451-500;
T. Shevchenko KNU – 501-550;
Lviv Polytechnic – 601-650;
Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics – 651-700;
V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute – 751-850;
Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute – 751-850.

The methodology for the subject-specific ranking involves assessment across five criteria, with two reputation-based indicators playing a key role (totalling 70%): academic reputation (40%) and reputation among employers (30%). The remaining 30% is distributed among scientometric data: citations per publication (12.5%), the Hirsch index (12.5%) and the international research network (5%).

Among Ukrainian universities in the field of Computer Science, �� achieves the following results:

Academic reputation – 4th place;
Репутація серед роботодавців – 6th place;
Employer reputation – 3rd place;
h-index – 4th place;
International Research Network (IRN) – 2nd place.

To determine the reputation components, QS conducts large-scale surveys. Academics and employers identify the leading institutions, in their opinion, exclusively within the field in which they are specialists. This means that only experts who are directly involved in the field of computer science make a significant contribution to the universities’ rankings.

�� in QS World University Rankings: Europe – 2026

On January 28, the British rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published the third release of the regional rating. Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics entered the prestigious ranking for the third time in a row, ranking 561-570 among the best universities in Europe, 73rd among Eastern European universities, 10th among Ukrainian and 3rd among Kharkiv universities.

This result takes on special significance against the background of the ongoing war, energy challenges and difficult conditions in which Ukrainian science and education have to function.The indomitable �� continues to maintain a high standard, demonstrating resilience and a desire for development.

In total, 57 universities from Ukraine were included in the rating – this is significantly more than in previous years, which indicates the increasing visibility and competitiveness of Ukrainian higher education in the European arena. Of all the universities of Ukraine included in the rating, not a single one has risen, 36 have fallen. 22 entered the rating for the first time. Front-line Kharkiv is represented by 9 universities.

On 21 January, Times Higher Education published its subject rankings.
�� is represented in three fields, including Physical Sciences, where the university marks its debut.

Until this year, �� was traditionally ranked in two THE subject rankings: Computer Science and Engineering. Now the university is represented in three key fields:

Computer Science: 801–1000 (up from 1001+);
Engineering: 1001–1250 (up from 1251+);
Natural Sciences: 1001–1250 – a new entry!

Among Ukrainian universities, �� ranked first in computer science among 9 universities, second in engineering among 14 universities, and third in natural sciences among 13 universities.

gives the highest weight to scientific research quality indicators: Citation impact, Research strength, Research excellence, and Research influence.
This is a historic achievement for the technical university, especially given the challenging working conditions during a full-scale war. The university’s staff continues to work effectively, conduct research, and gain recognition worldwide.

Presence in world rankings, especially those of authoritative bodies such as Times Higher Education, is an indicator of the quality of education, scientific research, and internationalisation, and will contribute to ��’s further integration into the global educational space.
