On 20 May, an expanded meeting of University Optimisation Committee was held as part of the ongoing seminar on achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals. The agenda included consideration and approval of changes to ��������’s internal rankings in 2024.

Acting Rector Ihor Ruban noted that �������� remains a leading Ukrainian university despite the war. In terms of the distribution of funding in 2024, �������� moved from 9th to 8th position among Ukrainian HEIs. And to maintain these achievements, stimulating and encouraging measures are needed. Among these measures is the inclusion of world rankings key indicators in �������� internal rankings.

In order to bring our internal rankings in compliance with THE and QS world rankings, the presence in which is critical for obtaining funding under the “formula” distribution (Resolution Cabinet Ministers of Ukraine No. 298 dated 15 March 2024), the Committee proposed to consider and support the following proposals:

1) To introduce a new indicator of the – International Research Network – into the ranking of publication activity of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics staff.

This indicator is new in the QS rankings, it takes into account the number of articles with foreign co-authors. Compared to other Kharkiv universities, �������� loses slightly in this indicator. Over the 5 years that are taken into account when calculating the ranking, the number of publications with foreign co-authors was about 20% – 338 scientific publications. To stimulate the development of international collaboration, it is proposed to set the coefficient for articles co-authored with foreign colleagues at 1.5.

2) To add the indicator of international research network in the ranking of departments and faculties of �������� in the context of departments.

3) To approve the proposal of ACT Faculty Dean Oleksandr FILIPENKO on the number of international projects of the departments and the number of students who participated in academic mobility programmes.

4) In order to support young teachers, to add the indicator “Number of full-time assistants, senior lecturers of the department working full-time, under the age of 35, persons” to the rating of �������� departments and faculties.
